Hearing Loss

Hearing loss, referred to as Badhirya in Ayurveda, is a condition where the ability to perceive sound is diminished. It can range from mild impairment to complete deafness. In Ayurveda, it is primarily seen as a disorder of the Vata dosha, though imbalances in Kapha and Pitta doshas may also contribute.

  • Blockage or disruption in the outer or middle ear.
  • Ayurveda relates this to Kapha dosha imbalance causing obstruction.

2. Sensorineural Hearing Loss

  • Damage to the inner ear or auditory nerve.
  • Ayurveda associates this with Vata dosha imbalance leading to degeneration.
