Anal Fistula

An anal fistula is defined as a slender passageway that connects an internal opening within the anal canal to an external opening located on the skin adjacent to the anus. When an infection occurs in the anal canal, a channel is created, leading to the discharge of pus. This resulting passage is referred to as a fistula. The condition is notably uncomfortable and painful due to the pus drainage. Key contributors to the development of a fistula include a low-fiber diet, an unhealthy lifestyle, and stress. Additionally, constipation is a significant factor, and a high-fiber diet can be advantageous in managing anal fistula.
