A sudden drop in kidney function is known as acute kidney failure. It can be life threatening and requires immediate treatment.

Risk factors for the acute kidney failure are as follows:

  •   Advanced Age.
  •   Peripheral artery disease.
  •   Heart failure.
  •   Kidney diseases.
  •   Liver diseases.

The causes of the acute kidney failure:

  •   Pre-Renal (less blood supply to the kidney).
  •   Renal (Damage of the kidney itself).
  •   Post-Renal (obstructions in the other part of urinary tract).

Acute renal kidney is equally common than chronic kidney failure.

How To Diagnose The Kidney Failure?

THE DIAGNOSIS OF THE KIDNEY FAILURE CAN BE DONE BY THE FOLLOWING TEST:

  •   Blood test (GFR Glomerular filtration rate which measure how kidney filtrates the waste from the body).
  •   Urine test (albumin, RBC, WBC and glucose).
  •   Ultrasound, CT scan, X-ray.
  •   Kidney Biopsy.
