Diet Plan for Patients of Kidney Stones

Kidney stones is a painful urological disorder, nowadays it has become such a widespread health problem, there is stone formation in the kidney, ureter, or bladder. Kidney stones can be of different types (uric acid stones, calcium oxalate stones, cysteine stones, and struvite stones). Diet is among various factors that can stimulate or stop kidney stone formation.


Therefore your Diet must contain:-
  • Consumption of adequate water throughout the day.
  • Consume few oxalate-rich foods.
  • Involve low salt and animal protein diet.
  • Continue eating calcium-rich foods, but be cautious with calcium supplements.
  • Must include adequate fibers in your Diet.

Diet Schedule For Kidney Stone

Early Morning

One glass of water with 1 tsp chia seeds

Breakfast

Upma / Dalia / Vermicelli (Sewian) / Veg poha / Idli / Brown Bread Sandwich / Stuffed Chapatti / Chapatti with Veg or Dal / Curd with 1 Eggs white portion

Mid-Morning

Fruit / Coconut water / Sprouts / Salad / Lemon water

Lunch

Mix chapatti / Plain chapatti / Veg pulao / Boiled rice / Vegetable with Dal,Curd and Salad

Evening

Herbal tea / Green tea / Sprouts / Rice flakes snack / Flaxseed- 1tsp

Pre-Dinner

Home-made Soup

Dinner

Mix chapatti / Plain chapatti / Vegetable with Dal and Curd

Important Tips

  • Walk for at least 30-45 min is recommended.
  • Water intake should be increased at least 8-10 glass regularly
  • Skipping of meals should be avoided, especially the breakfast
  • Whole fruit should be preferred to fruit juices.
  • Herbal Tea - Boil ½ tsp each of fennel, coriander, cumin in 3 cups of water till it’s reduced to 1 cups
  • Outdoor activity should be increased like jogging, cycling, and running.
